Introduction
Google Search Console is like a report card from Google for your website. It shows you what’s working, what needs fixing, and — most importantly — it helps your pages get found in Google Search results. In this tutorial, we’ll walk through how to add your Oh My Hi site to Google Search Console and verify ownership.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Start Your Search Console Setup
- Head to search.google.com.
- Click the Start Now button.
Step 2: Add Your Property
- Look for the Add Property option.
- Choose the URL prefix option — not the Domain option.
- Enter your website address, making sure to include https:// at the beginning.
⚠️ Be sure to pick the URL prefix option, not Domain — and don’t forget the https:// in front of your website address.
Step 3: Get Your Verification Tag
- Once you’re logged in, scroll down to find the HTML tag option (not the HTML file option).
- Click it to open the tag.
- Copy the tag from Google Search Console.
💡 Make sure you grab the HTML tag, not the HTML file — they’re two different verification options.
Step 4: Paste the Tag Into Your Oh My Hi Site
- Head over to your Oh My Hi site dashboard.
- Go to Advanced > Custom Code > Header Code.
- Paste the tag you copied from Google Search Console.
Step 5: Verify Ownership
- Head back over to Google Search Console.
- Click Verify.
- Wait a minute for it to process — you’ll see a message that says Ownership verified.
✅ Once verified, you’ll start seeing information populate in Google Search Console over the next several days.
